Child Safety
Advice, information and resources for safety practitioners, parents, teachers and other professionals who work with children about child safety on the road, in the home and at play can be found in the different Safety Areas of RoSPA's website. The quick links below will also take you to the main child safety content on our website.
Safe Halloween
The best way to celebrate Halloween is at a home-based party. But, if you do plan to go trick or treating, these Safe Halloween (
PDF format 165kb) guidelines, developed by RoSPA and the Halloween Association, will help you enjoy yourself while respecting other people's privacy.
Children In and Around Cars Survey
Every parent knows that it is impossible to keep an eye on young children every second of the day. Youngsters want to explore and try things out, without understanding potential dangers. Sadly, there have been tragic incidents on the driveways of residential properties and when children have been left alone in cars.
RoSPA produced and ran a short online survey to gather information about these types of incident. The survey shut on 5th January 2010, and the responses will be studied and the findings and resulting advice will be published on this page.
For further information about the survey you can e-mail Lindsey Simkins.
The survey can still be found online, for information only, at Children In and Around Cars Questionnaire.
European Child Safety Report Cards
On May 6, 2009, the European Child Safety Alliance of EuroSafe launched Child Safety Report Cards for more than 20 countries. Scotland and England were among the countries for which report cards and country profiles were produced. Find out more...
