RoSPA Scotland - Home Safety Department
Travelling the length and breadth of Scotland, the Home Safety Manager, Elizabeth Lumsden and Development Officer, Nikkie Butters work closely with local authorities, Health Boards and Health Promotion units, Community Safety Groups, the Fire and Rescue Service, Police, NHS Health Scotland and many others, providing support, advice and training. Industry also has a major role to play, as many of the casualties will lose time at work as a result of their injuries, or as a result of remaining at home to care for family members. The Scottish Accident Prevention Council’s (SAPC) Home Safety Committee is made up of Elected Members, Officers, and various organisations with an interest in home accident prevention, the Committee meets four times a year to play an active role in campaigning for change on such issues as Installation of Sprinklers and the employment of Home Safety Officers as a Mandatory Function. The members, of which include RoSPA, meet six times a year to exchange information and ideas. This group has changed its name from Scottish Home Safety Officers Group to HOME SAFETY SCOTLAND - www.homesafetyscotland.org.uk The Scottish Local Authorities Community Safety Forum (SLACS) also welcome RoSPA’s input into the wider Community Safety Picture. www.communitysafetyscotland.org |
