16/06/00 : POOLING IDEAS TO FIGHT HOME ACCIDENTS

Professionals will pool ideas at a national conference organised by RoSPA in an effort to reduce home accidents which send nearly three million people to hospital each year. Small firms and organisations are being given the chance to improve their health and safety management thanks to a scholarship offered by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and Esso Petroleum Company Ltd. 03/03/00 : DOUBLE CELEBRATION FOR RoSPA

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents is celebrating a double success in an awards scheme which recognises the achievements of well-run charities. Birmingham-based RoSPA won the "strategic leadership" and "exceeding customer expectations" categories of the 1999 Best Practices Benchmarking and Awards programme, against competition from 200 other entries from non-profitmaking UK organisations. The Society also finished runner-up in the "motivating and retaining employees" section of the scheme, run by NGO Finance Magazine in conjunction with international business consultants, Arthur Andersen & Binder Hamlyn. 02/03/00 : TASK FORCE MEANS MAJOR STEP FORWARD FOR FLEET SAFETY

A new task force being set up by the Government to look at ways of preventing accidents involving company vehicles will pave the way for major changes in fleet safety, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said today. The task force - announced as part of Government road safety strategies aimed at reducing road deaths by 40 per cent in the next 10 years - will examine the issues raised by RoSPA in its pioneering campaign on managing occupational road risk. Greater resources and commitment will be needed if the road safety targets being announced by the Government are to be reached, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said today. 21/01/00: CAMPAIGN TO FIGHT GROWING MOBILE PHONE ROAD DANGER

More motorists will die unless they heed the warnings in a new Government advertising campaign about the dangers of using mobile phones while driving, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents predicted today. RoSPA has led the fight to stop motorists using mobile phones while at the wheel, and knows of at least nine deaths on Britain’s roads where mobile phones have been implicated. Full Story»


07/01/00 : RoSPA LEADS WITH NEW STANDARD FOR FLEET INSTRUCTORS

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents is launching a new qualification for fleet driving instructors, which it believes will become the national standard. External accreditation will ensure the highest quality training available. By incorporating BTEC Progressive Advanced Driving Instruction into its acclaimed diploma course, RoSPA says it can meet all the requirements of the proposed Driving Standards Agency Fleet Instructor Register - announced at RoSPA’s National Road Safety Congress in 1999.
