NEW ACCOLADE FOR CHEMICAL INDUSTRY
The Chemical Industries Association has been honoured by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents for its outstanding contribution to occupational health and safety.
It is the first time in the 45-year history of RoSPA awards that a trade body has received such an accolade.
The Society agreed to give the CIA a commendation for its work in encouraging a “best practice” approach and also for promoting health and safety as a key aspect of overall business performance.
Roger Bibbings, RoSPA Occupational Safety Adviser, presented the scroll at the CIA awards dinner in London last night (July 10).
He said the CIA role in health and safety development among its members should be seen as a “beacon” by other trade and sector associations to give these issues the priority they truly deserved.
He hoped other trade and public sector bodies would now follow the CIA’s shining example.
