MAKING HIGH-PERFORMANCE CAR DRIVERS SAFER
RoSPA has signed an elite team of driving instructors to concentrate on high-performance car buyers.
The aim is to link with manufacturers so that customers can be given one-to-one instruction on how to get maximum enjoyment from their vehicles. But the team can also be called in by fleet managers or individuals.
As well as making people more capable and safer drivers, specialist advice will help them to understand the car’s full potential.
On-road and track sessions will be used to ensure they can enjoy all of their vehicle’s handling and technical capabilities.
Charles Davis, RoSPA Head of Driver and Fleet Solutions, said: “We have set up a team of 10 people based around the country who are all trained to the highest RoSPA and Driving Standards Agency levels.
“We want manufacturers to take advantage of RoSPA’s expertise by offering our tuition as part of their sales package. But we are also happy to deal with fleet managers or individuals.
“Our team will liase with customers so that training can be tailor-made to each person’s needs.”
RoSPA would like to hear from performance-car manufacturers who want to ensure their clients gain as much as possible from their vehicles and are safe and confident on the road.
“Businesses and organisations with high-performance cars in their fleets should also consider this service as part of their policy for managing occupational road risk,” Charles Davis said.
“The high-performance days we offer are not about driving at speed. They look at a driver’s responsibility and enjoyment while considering the correct use of such things as anti-lock braking systems, traction control and electronic parking systems.
“We want people to appreciate the dynamic capabilities of their car under supportive and expert tuition.
“By the end of the day they will have driven in towns, in the country and on motorways, as well as a track. They should be better at spotting hazards and understanding how to deal with them confidently and safely.”
