RoSPA ‘FIRST’ AS HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING VIDEOS GO ON-LINE

RoSPA is launching a new service, which allows its popular occupational health and safety training videos to be viewed on-line without the need to buy a tape.

RoSPA E-Videos is believed to be a first for the industry as it draws together programmes from some of the best-known production companies. Videos can be watched by staff at their own desks and have an interactive element, helping managers to check how well the messages have been understood.

Customers licensed by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents buy a number of credits that they can use to watch any of the on-line videos available.

Programmes cover: the office, the construction industry, driver safety, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), personal protective equipment and manual handling.

The launch of RoSPA E-Videos will take place at 1pm at the Society’s stand (Hall 9, D30) on the first day of Safety and Health Expo 2005 at the NEC, May 17.

Visitors to the three-day exhibition will be able to test the system and sign up for a seven-day free trial with the offer of a 25 per cent bonus of viewings if they join the scheme. Users will have their own password to access the internet service.

Rebecca Fletcher, RoSPA Product Manager - Marketing, said: “This new service is believed to be the first of its type and is convenient, flexible and cost effective. It means each member of staff can watch a video on their own PC at work or home, at the time that is most suitable for them.

“The wide range of programmes allows organisations to select titles that meet the varying needs of their employees.

“There is an interactive quiz to check how well the knowledge has been absorbed. A management tool allows supervisors to check that the employee has watched the selected programme and see what score has been achieved.”

Individual viewings can cost as little as £25 and this could drop to £20 by visiting RoSPA’s NEC stand. Organisations interested in a seven-day free trial should contact e-videos@rospa.com or ring 0121 248 2233.

RoSPA will also be looking for partnerships with more health and safety video production companies to expand its on-line service.
