FRESH CHANCES TO BENEFIT FROM SAFETY EXCHANGE

Following the success of its first Safety Awareness Exchange, RoSPA has announced dates for two more of the events which allow safety professionals to gather information in a more flexible way.

They will cover a wide range of topics, but delegates only need to concentrate on the issues that concern them by choosing their own programme and dipping in and out of discussion tables, early-bird briefings and presentations as they wish.

The next Safety Awareness Exchanges will be held at the Majestic Hotel, Harrogate, on March 6, and at the Hilton Hotel, Watford, on March 27.

There will be a special focus on managing occupational road risk with a series of sessions sponsored by Toyota GB. Other sessions will be running at the same time on helping organisations to improve their health and safety practices.

Seventeen discussion tables will offer expert advice on topics including: stress, accident investigation, risk assessment, working at height, protective equipment, behavioural safety, site transport safety, plant and work equipment, fire risk assessment, noise, choosing safe vehicles for work and hand arm vibrations.

Those arriving early can attend briefings on: enforcement and occupational road risk; workforce consultation; an update on corporate manslaughter; and organisational readiness to investigate.

Diane Preece, RoSPA Events Manager, said: “People attending our first Safety Awareness Exchange last year praised it as the ideal format for the busy health and safety professional.

“They valued the ability to choose the topics that most interested them and to be able to move around the discussion tables as they wished or sit in on the briefings that were most relevant to them.

“The tables are led by specialists who have up-to-the-minute information about health and safety developments.”
