RoSPA Press Office : Press ReleaseFebruary 21 , 2006 The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents is expanding the number of occupational health and safety training courses it offers at major regional centres. In the coming months, RoSPA will target Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, Hertfordshire and Belfast, as well as continuing to provide training from its Birmingham and Edinburgh bases and through in-company courses. Errol Taylor, RoSPA Acting Chief Executive, said: “We introduced regional training last year and there has been a growing demand for it. Health and safety management is now a part of daily life for every business and organisation, and we want to be sure companies can have easy access to top-class training.” In the regions, RoSPA now offers: Twelve different one-day courses – covering a broad range of topics including risk assessment, accident investigation, fire safety, COSHH and construction safety. Manual Handling Trainers and Assessors Course – Over five days delegates learn about ergonomics and good handling techniques, and how to train others in manual handling awareness, as well as how to carry out manual-handling-related risk assessments. Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate, which is valid for three years, and will receive a CD-ROM containing all the course materials required to deliver an awareness course. Introduction to Safety and Health - A fully-revised three-day course providing managers, supervisors and developing safety practitioners with a sound theoretical and practical understanding of the foundations of health and safety. Management of Safety and Health - Essentially comprising Paper One of the NEBOSH National General Certificate, this new six-day course is the ultimate comprehensive safety and health foundation. The emphasis is on the practical application of knowledge to meet the challenges of the workplace. NEBOSH Modular National General Certificate - The NEBOSH National General Certificate is arguably the best-regarded foundation in health and safety. Prominence is given to the practical use of knowledge, rather than simply to passing the exams. RoSPA’s exclusive flexible modular approach answers the need for quality safety courses, delivered to fit around busy work schedules. The 12 one-day courses can be taken in any order, meaning less continuous time away from work. For full details call 0121 248 2233, email training@rospa.com or visit www.rospa.com/regionaltraining |
