Kellogg Supply Services of Manchester have won the top award for behavioural safety from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and Ryder Marsh* .
The cereal manufacturers picked up the Allan Poole Award for Outstanding Achievement after being voted best of five finalists by the audience at the Behavioural Safety User Conference at the International Centre, Telford.
The awards are aimed at companies wishing to prove that they can demonstrate an effective and systematic approach to managing behavioural aspects of health and safety.
Bruce Edwards, Kellogg’s Manchester Plant Director, said: “Safety is always our number one priority and this is a great accolade to all at the plant who have worked so hard to promote accident reduction.
“Over the last couple of years we have taken a number of significant steps to reduce the number of accidents – we now aim to build on this with additional safety initiatives to reach our ultimate goal of zero accidents.”
The other finalists were: Trant Construction of Southampton, Nexia Solutions of Warrington, BG Exploration and Production India Ltd and Egyptian LNG. About 30 other businesses and organisations received achievement awards.
Roger Bibbings, RoSPA Occupational Safety Adviser, said: “Behavioural safety programmes have an important part to play in organisations that have effective health and safety management systems in place and want to further enhance their performance.
“These award winners are leading the way and we hope others will learn from them and become high achievers themselves.”
